Innovations in Imaging
Free Bee International develops technologies for improving patient care and medical research. Free Bee Int’l was founded in 2023 by Freek Beekman Ph.D., a Dutch physicist, scientist, innovator, and serial life science entrepreneur.
At Free Bee Int’l we pioneer new imaging and QC instruments with the aim to improve e.g. tumor, brain, cardiac, breast and total body imaging, and radionuclide therapy. Key knowledge is on nuclear imaging and tracer/pharma QC, image reconstruction and image processing and making ideas into real products.
PROJECTS
Clinical SPECT: Presently used clinical SPECT is limited in terms of speed, resolution and sensitivity. Free Bee Int’l develops next generation versatile, ultra-sensitive and hyper-flexible SPECT technologies by using various proprietary collimation technologies and detector systems.
Gamma camera based Molecular Breast Imaging (MBI)
MBI is a proven and highly reliable alternative for X-ray based breast imaging, needed because X-ray imaging has severe limitations, in particular for patients with a high percentage of dense breast tissue. Comprehensive information on currently available MBI instruments can be found at Smart Breast Corporation and CMR Naviscan. Free Bee’s new technologies that are currently under development will enable to lowering required dose, shortening imaging time, improve patient comfort, improve image resolution and allow for more efficient 3D localization of tumors to enable accurate and fast tumor biopsy. Free Bee Int’l developed an extensive IP portfolio on molecular breast imaging technologies, like simultaneous dual breast imaging in a comfortable way to cut dose by a factor of up to four or reduce scan time by a factor up to four. We strive to pain free breast screening with better sensitivity and specificity than any other system in the world, also for extremely dense breasts.
Efficient quality control for therapeutic and diagnostic isotopes
We recently developed novel concepts and IP for radiopharmaceutical QC. Filed IP comprises versatile and ultra-fast methods for direct measurement of alfa’s, beta’s and gamma's (Ultra-TLC) with unprecedented sensitivity speed and versatility. IP on Ultra-TLC has been licensed to Lyla B.V. The Netherlands.
