Professor Frederik A. Verburg
“If it’s not radioactive, it’s not my business” – this motto reflects Erik’s passion for nuclear medicine and his commitment to improving lives through radionuclide theranostics.
He obtained his MD (2004) and PhD (2008) from Utrecht University, trained in Nuclear Medicine in Würzburg, and gained broad experience in Germany and the Netherlands (Aachen/Maastricht, Marburg, Rotterdam).
Currently, he is Professor and Chair of Translational Nuclear Medicine at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam — birthplace of Lutetium-177 therapy — where his research bridges patient care and lab science, spanning radiochemistry, (radio)pharmacy, technology and biology. He also serves as CEO of the hospital’s cyclotron subsidiary.
He has authored over 300 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and other scientific works.
